House of Seven Gables, Salem, MA Photos

The House of Seven Gables (aka Capt. John Turner House) built in 1668 was featured in Nathaniel Hawthorne's novel of the same name. The house was restored as described in the book, rather than what it was, but a visit still reveals the many aspects of early American life. Several colonial structures including Nathaniel Hawthorne's birthplace were moved to the grounds of the House of Seven Gables.
